Share what you actually found
Most Skardu information online is written by people selling something, or copied from other sites. First-hand reports are worth more. A road that was rough last week, a hotel that raised its rate, a lake that was already frozen.
Fill in as much or as little as you like. Only three fields are required. Every submission is read by a person before anything is published.
Submit your experience
Takes about three minutes. The most valuable parts are the road condition, what vehicle you needed, and your advice for the next person. Those are the details other travellers cannot find anywhere.
How submissions are handled
| Stage | What happens |
|---|---|
| 1. You submit | Your report goes to a private moderation queue. Nothing appears on the site. |
| 2. We read it | A person reads every submission. We may email you if a detail needs checking. |
| 3. We publish or decline | Approved reports are added to this page, lightly edited for length or clarity only. |
| 4. Your email stays private | Never published, never shared, never added to a mailing list. |
What we will not publish
- Reports that are not from a genuine visit
- Marketing for a hotel, operator or tour company
- Personal attacks on named individuals or staff
- Anything we cannot reasonably verify as a real experience
We do publish critical reports. If a road was awful, a hotel was cold, or an operator let you down, that is exactly the information other travellers need. See our guide to licensed operators and hotels for how to check a business before you book.
What makes a genuinely useful report
The reports that help most are specific rather than enthusiastic. Compare:
| Less useful | Much more useful |
|---|---|
| "Deosai was beautiful, a must-visit!" | "Left Skardu 7am, reached Sheosar 10:15. Track was dry. Our Prado managed fine but a Corolla ahead of us turned back at Ali Malik Top." |
| "The hotel was nice." | "PKR 15,000 for a triple. Hot water only worked in the evening. Generator ran until 11pm then power went off." |
| "Take warm clothes." | "It was 26°C in Skardu and about 4°C at Bara Pani at 9am. A fleece was not enough." |
Numbers, times and specifics. That is what nobody else publishes.
Where your report helps most
These are the pages where first-hand reports change what we publish. If you have been to any of them recently, your report will likely correct or confirm something:
- Deosai National Park, road status and opening dates shift every year with snowmelt
- Skardu hotels, rates move constantly
- Kharmang and its waterfalls, published distances for Khamosh vary wildly between sources
- Khaplu Valley, road condition on the Shyok route
- Distances and driving times, our figures are cross-checked against mapping data, but real journeys differ
Your privacy
We collect only what you enter in the form above. Your email address is used solely to contact you about your submission and is never published or shared. You can ask us to remove a published report at any time via the contact page and we will take it down. Full detail in our privacy policy.
Frequently asked questions
How do I share my Skardu travel experience?
Fill in the form on this page. It takes about three minutes and only three fields are required: the place you visited, your advice for other visitors, and your consent. Everything else is optional.
Is my review published immediately?
No. Every submission goes to a private moderation queue and is read by a person before anything appears on the site. Nothing publishes automatically. Expect a few days.
Will my email address be published?
No. Your email is used only if we need to check a detail with you before publishing. It is never shown on the site, never shared, and never added to a mailing list.
Can I post a negative review?
Yes. If a road was in poor condition, a hotel was cold, or an operator let you down, that is exactly what other travellers need to know. We do not publish personal attacks on named individuals or marketing disguised as a review.
What details are most useful to include?
Specifics rather than adjectives: actual journey times, road surface, the vehicle you needed, what you paid, and temperatures. Saying you left Skardu at 7am and reached Sheosar at 10:15 on a dry track helps far more than saying the drive was beautiful.
Can I ask for my review to be removed later?
Yes. Contact us at any time and we will take it down, no questions asked.
