The short version
This site has no accounts, no logins and no newsletter. Apart from the optional trip-report form, it does not ask for your name, address or payment details, and it never sells personal information. The trip cost calculator and weather widgets run in your browser. The figures you enter are not transmitted to us or stored anywhere.
What we collect
Information you give us voluntarily
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to write. That is used only to reply to you and, where relevant, to correct the site. We do not add you to any mailing list.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, our hosting provider records standard technical information when a page is requested. IP address, browser type, device type, referring page and time of visit. This is used for security and to understand which pages are being read. It is not used to identify individuals.
What we do not collect
- We do not require names, postal addresses or phone numbers to browse the site. If you choose to submit an experience report, we store only what you enter in that form
- We do not process payments and never see card details
- We do not store anything you type into the trip cost calculator. The calculation happens entirely in your browser and the numbers are discarded when you close the page
- We do not sell, rent or trade personal information to anyone, for any purpose
Information you submit through the experience form
If you submit a report through our Tourist Experiences form, we receive only what you type into it. That may include your name, the place you visited, travel details, ratings, your comments and, if you choose to provide them, your email address and where you are from.
How that information is used
- Your report is read by a person for moderation. If approved, it may be published on this site, possibly shortened or lightly edited for clarity.
- Your name is published only if you supply one. First name or initials is fine, and you can leave it blank.
- Your email address is never published and never shared. It is used only if we need to check a detail with you before publishing. It is not added to any mailing list.
- Nothing is published automatically. Every submission is held in a private moderation queue until a person approves it.
Where form submissions are stored
Form submissions are processed and stored by Netlify, our hosting provider, and are accessible only to us through the Netlify dashboard. Netlify operates under its own privacy policy, which we do not control.
Removing a published report
You can ask us to remove or correct a published report at any time via the contact page. We will take it down promptly and you do not need to give a reason.

Each of these operates under its own privacy policy, which we do not control. The YouTube embed is deliberately click-to-load so that nothing is requested from YouTube unless you choose to watch.

This site is funded partly by display advertising. Third-party advertising networks, including Google AdSense, may serve ads on these pages and may use cookies to show ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.

Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request a copy of personal data we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, or object to its processing. In practice we hold very little. For most visitors, nothing beyond server logs.

This site is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
